Easy Vacation Exercise Tips

Going out of town for an upcoming trip, but worried you can't take your gym routine with you? No sweat! There are plenty of easy exercises to follow so you'll stay on top of your fitness regimen, even when you're far away from your exercise comfort zone.

Walking
Since so many of us walk much more while sightseeing than we do at home, a pedometer is a great exercise tool to take with you while on vacation. Attach the device to your tennis shoes or your waist and track the number of steps taken each day. Even a daily stroll on the beach can be a vital part of your vacation fitness regimen!

Sit-Ups and Pushups
There are plenty of exercises you can do anywhere, for example pushups and sit-ups. Pushups work your chest and arms, while sit-ups target your core. These simple exercises are ideal for anyone on vacation and you can do them in your hotel room.

Treading Water
Take a dip in your hotel's swimming pool or if you're at the beach, dive in to the ocean and enjoy the refreshing seawater. Simply treading water for 30 minutes can burn up to 350 calories!

Keep these additional tips in mind when you exercise:

  • Always warm up 10-15 minutes before exercising with stretching. Each stretch should be held for 15-20 seconds.
  • Hydrate! By the time your body tells you you're thirsty, you're already dehydrated. Drink plenty of water before, during and after your exercise routine.
Enjoy your vacation and keep exercising!
